RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION

Intro

Fashion is a wonderful world, provides work to millions of people, alas it is one of the most polluting industries, second only to oil trade.

The fashion industry must evolve.

UN directives are calling for renewed approaches to production and asking questions of us all as consumers about consumption, sustainability, fair trade, waste reduction and ensuring new ethically responsible solutions: humankind in harmony with the environment.

For decades many companies have focused on competitiveness, turnover and originality, with a priority to be fast. This encourages “throw away” fashion for the benefit of corporate profits.

Majority of products are made in Near and Far East, sometimes due to the complexity of this supply chain working standards and employee benefits cannot always be assured.

MOSCA Clothing is different.  We are part of a short regional supply chain. Using natural fibers and fabrics, recycled materials and traceable from source. In this simple way we protect us, future generations and our planet.

Agenda 2030

The United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development is a program in support of people, planet and its prosperity; it has been signed in September 2015 by the governments of the 193 member countries.

This agenda includes 17 “Sustainable Development Goals” (“SDG”) and these consist of global action program of 169 tasks.

The official launch of the Sustainable Development Goals started in 2016, aiming to achieve them all by 2030.

These “Development Goals” follow the ideals of “Millennium Development Goals” which represent commonly shared overarching priorities on a number of important issues such as  the fight against poverty, the elimination of hunger and the fight against climate change. "Common goals" to fight against common threats that endanger all countries and all individuals. No one excluded.

Guaranteeing sustainable production and consumption models

Sustainable consumption and production means promoting energy and resources’ efficiency, promoting sustainable infrastructures to offer decent work, respect of the environment, ultimately the aim is for a better quality of life for all.

Its implementation is key to the launch of innovative global development plans, in order to help the reduction of economic, environmental and social costs, by improving economic competitiveness and reduce poverty.

Sustainable consumption and production mantra is: “less is more"

Increasing welfare, limiting the abuse of resources, preventing degradation and pollution throughout a renewed production cycle, hence improving the quality of life.

Everyone is challenged to contribute in this regard: companies, politicians, consumers. researchers, scientists, retailers, media and development cooperation agencies.

A cooperative approach is needed amongst all parties of the supply chain, from manufacturer to consumer.

Our consumers must be encouraged towards to a sustainable lifestyle, we must inform them via several initiatives, including our garment labels and web-site.
